QUEEN MARY BOILER ROOMS

 

Explore areas of the Queen Mary rarely seen by the public and passengers.

The Queen Mary's working alleyway on D-Deck. Frame 212 crew ladder. Access ladder to the forward turbogenerator room. Forward turbogenerator room starting platform.
E-deck auxiliary switchboard room aft of the cabin class swimming pool tank and adjoining a fan room. Fuel filling station at frame 168 on the starboard side between the ship's hull and boiler room #4. Catwalks seen from the tank tops of boiler room #3, looking aft on the starboard side. Trunk of cargo hold #1 on G-deck. This was formerly the mail handling space.
One of eight airlock doors on E-deck. Frame 242, starboard side. Inside the airlock door at the WTB between boiler rooms #3 and #4 (frame 190). Crew ladder leading to boiler room #3 can be  seen. Row of dressing rooms behind First Class swimming pool. Forward of frame 290, this area of D-Deck was once the stewards' quarters and washroom. Looking up the ropestore from F-deck. Queen Mary's interior stem casting from F-deck, just forward of the ropestore.
Composite photo of cargo hold #1 taken from G-deck. Tightening and loosening of mooring lines are audible from this location. This seldom viewed area is the expansion trunk (located between cargo holds #1 and #2). Within the expansion trunk is this access hatch to the deep tanks. These are filled with clear water for ballast. The access to the Queen Mary's crow's nest is a 110-rung ladder inside the foremast. View looking down inside the mast from the crow's nest.
